Open Horizon 2018

The popularity of this event was more than anticipated with over 120 students from different Farsi Teaching Schools in London attending. They were introduced to other potential career pathways. This year we had experts in the field of Sports, Law, Politics, Start-Ups and Fashion amongst others talking about their career. We also had an expert to guide students on personal statements which was highly received. It was an enthralling day for the students and one which will be of great value to them when they finally come to choose their career pathways. This event couldn't have gone ahead without the support of our sponsor Ahmed Tea and Laila Salehzehi Charitable Foundation (LSCF).

 

Rustam Careers Day 2013

This date marked the beginning of BIMA and Rustam School’s joint objective to inspire and mentor young students in their future career. Medical and Dental representatives gave their views on a career in their respective field and what students require to gain entry to study their subject. It was a well received event and one which left the students feeling inspired. 

Iranian Medical Heritage 2015

One of the highlights of 2015, BIMA and Iranian Heritage Foundation (IHF) collaborated to produce a sell out event at the Royal College of Surgeons. Highly esteemed speakers from around the world came together to discuss and enlighten us about Iran’s rich medical history. The highlight of the event was when Professor Majjid Samii sharing his life long contribution to his beloved medical career. 

Open Horizon 2017

Following the success of the event last year we setout to make this event even better, and we did not disappoint. Over 110 students from different Farsi Teaching Schools in London attended and were exposed to 10 potential career pathways. This year we had experts in the field of Advertising, Pharmacy, Law, Teaching, Finance amongst others talking about their career. It was an enthralling day for the students and one which will be of great value to them when they finally come to choose their career pathways. The event was sponsored by Laila Salehzehi Charitable Foundation (LSCF). 

Open Horizon 2016

2016 saw the creation of a new committee called Open Horizon which set out to inspire young Iranian students planning their future careers. Over 100 students between the ages of 12-18 were invited to the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) to be inspired by experts from numerous professions. We had speakers who are experts in Cosmology, Dentistry, Medicine, Archeology, Computer Science and many more. The event was so popular that the students asked for the event to done annually. 

AGM Networking 2014

BIMA’s inaugural AGM and Networking Event was held at the prestigious Gherkin building in February 2014. We used this opportunity to share our achievements over the past few year and the impact your support has had.This was followed by a motivating networking session amongst students and senior members of the healthcare profession. We were honoured to be joined by British-Iranian colleagues, from other highly successful fields of law, engineering, & banking. We plan this to be an annual affair to help connect professional from all fields.

Rustam Careers Day 2014

Inspiring the younger British-Iranian population is one of BIMA’s goals. In March2014, BIMA held a careers event in collaboration with Rustam School, for GCSE and A-Level Students. Representatives from various fields: Medicine, Dentistry, Allied Healthcare, Engineering, Accountancy, Aerospace and Law delivered short talks about their fields, followed by a more detailed discussion with smaller student groups. The feedback from parents, teachers and students was highly encouraging, with many students contacting us for relevant work experience following the event. 

Dental CPD 2013

Our first certifiable dental CPD was held on September 29th 2013 at the Royal Society of Medicine (RSM). The programme, the first event of its kind amongst the British-Iranian community, started with talks from our sponsors followed by verifiable CPD lectures in areas of prosthodontics, orthodontics and oral and maxillofacial surgery. The lectures were invigorating and entertaining, and there was a wealth of opportunity for networking. Feedback revealed more than 95% overall satisfaction!

Inaugural Gala 2012

December 2012 marked an important milestone in BIMA's history. The association and its objectives, were introduced to the larger healthcare profession at the inaugural dinner held at the Landmark Hotel. The CEO of Kids Company, Camila Batmanghelidj was our guest of honour at this event, and over £4000 was raised for this charity. Kids Company intensively supports 18,000 children across London and Bristol, including the most deprived and at risk, whose parents are unable to care for them due to their own practical and emotional challenges.
